The actors are splitting after two years of marriage and a son they had together, Maceo, aged two.
In their joint statement the couple said, "It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce. We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus for what is best for our son."

They added, "We wish each other nothing but happiness in life, and we hope that you respect our, and most importantly our children's privacy, as we go through this difficult period." Halle and Martinez were last seen together on October 17 while shopping in Sherman Oaks with her daughter Nahla, aged seven, from the actress' relationship with model, Gabriel Aubry.
